My best dunks from 2011

I had a pretty good week of training last week. But, more details on that later.

I have been thinking about making a dunk mix for a while and tonight I went ahead and put together a short video with my best dunks from last year. I even added music! :-)  I know it's not that impressive compared to the incredible dunk videos out there on YouTube, but it was fun and motivating for me to put it together.

Hope you enjoy!

  1. great video!!!
i do have to bother you with a question:
how long should you also rest between sets? for plyometrics, 1 min is fine? how about the weights day, 2-3 mins?
also, if i can grab the rim, how far would you say i am from dunking?

    1. thanks man!

i'm happy to answer questions - no problem.
i would rest as long as you feel like you need in order to go maximum capacity in each set. for plyometrics, that might be 1-2 minutes. for weights, it might be 2-3 minutes.

if you can grab the rim, i'm guessing you need another 3-4 inches to dunk. you basically need to get your whole hand above the rim. maybe a little less if you can palm the ball. good luck man!

    2. I have slacked off big time! I've been extremely busy with work and coaching basketball and football. I have lost about 14 lbs though and I've started to exercise again. I keep coming back to your blog for inspiration, so now I'm ready to get back into it. I'll be updating my blog this weekend with all of my excuses and my plan. :-)

      Keep up the great work!

  3. I just started a blog. Still trying to figure it out so its not near as organized or good as yours haha. I will post my progress if there is any but as of now I am not doing the jump manual just yet. Hope to get to start at the beginning of July.

  4. looking good! Maybe i should give it another try on dunking. I still have my jump manual. I got my running vert to almost 40" in August of last year but when i would try to dunk, i just couldn't jump as high with a ball as without. I could dunk a palm ball but that's it. Now my vert is about 34" but I don't train for my vertical any more but I can still grab the rim easily (5'11). A quick pointer for you when you are approaching the rim. try to increase your approach speed to the basket before exploding up. Ground speed and technique play a big role in jumping high. If you jump slow you jump low.

    1. wow! 40 inches is awesome. did you ever try dunking off an alley oop or throwing the ball up and dunking off a bounce?
