Tomahawk before Thanksgiving - Week 7

Week 7 of this phase of vertical jump training using the Jump Manual was another great week. That's 3 weeks in a row of really getting after it.

This week is going to be tough. I actually left for Europe on Sunday and will be traveling to France, Germany, and the UK. Long days and jet lag doesn't bode well for working out. I'm not planning to do much other than maybe some pushups and 1 leg squats in my hotel room. Taking a week off will actually be kind of nice. Give my body a break and get going again next week.

Will start posting videos again hopefully next week. Until then...au revoir and lebewohl!

  1. Hi, I'm impressed and I have a question. You use Jump Manual but what do you think is the best jump program? Have you heard about Air Alert?

    1. I have heard of Air Alert but haven't done it so can't tell you much about it. I do think Jump Manual is a great program. I've been very happy with the results I've gotten by following it.

  2. Air Alert is based on old ideas about jumping and training to jump high, so basically AA is all about endurance (doing it, You may badly hurt Your joints by overtraining)! Personally I would not recommend it to anyone.

  3. I did Air Alert years ago and had good results after the first 2 weeks. After that, I felt like my vertical was actually worse and my legs were always tired and sore. The times when my vetical was at its highest, my progams always inculded squats and/or deadlifts and depth jumps.

  4. Hey Guys, I just started the Jump manual this week, and I am glad I found some other people to talk to about it! I did air alert 2 two different times and both times I got through about 3 or 4 weeks before my joints were shot from massive numbers of reps and way too much impact. Both times i burned out, but then after a couple weeks of rest found myself jumping about 4 inches higher than when I started. I haven't seen much talk about measurements on here, do you guys regularly measure your vert?

    1. Hey Jeremy,
Glad you found the blog! Hope you get great results with your training.

I do test my vertical fairly regularly. I bought (used) just jump mat which makes it pretty easy. you can see some of my videos on my youtube channel where i use it. www.youtube.com/myjumpmanual

    2. Thanks man, I actually found your archives and looked through it yesterday, your tracking of the first 12 weeks was great and really gave me a good sense of what I can expect. Funny, I made the goal to dunk by age 30 right before my 29th birthday, and I have 6 months to go, so your blog has been a perfect template for what I am going for. I decided to follow your example and converted my never-used blog into a Jump Manual progress log! jerweb.blogspot.com
